Our Ethos, Vision, Etiquette and Boundaries for Members
Rules to Membership of The Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups.
Here are the rules we apply to our Facebook groups. It is our vision, ethos, etiquette and provides boundaries. This is our intellectual property.
The Non Ridden Equine Facebook Group is the original non ridden group. It has gone international in its membership. It is the inspiration behind setting up the not for profit the Non Ridden Equine Association UK as way more than clicking like amongst like minded people must be done for non ridden equines and people who choose not to ride. Why a UK association when the original Non Ridden Equine Facebook Group is global? We do not have the skills or funds to tackle global issues. Therefore our focus with the Non Ridden Equine Association UK is for the UK. However as we are the only collective non ridden platform we welcome all no matter where in the world you live. All can enjoy our website with FREE resources and our Facebook groups.
The Non Ridden Equine Association UK provides a platform via a website for sharing good practice. We provide a free to access non ridden resources in a Library from many diversity of practitioners to inspire, delight and educate. We also provide links to Non Ridden Equine Friendly Businesses and much more. All FREE, FUN and for YOU and YOUR EQUINE.
The original Non Ridden Equine Facebook Group and the launch of the not for profit Non Ridden Equine Association UK has led to some local, regional and national affiliated Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups to be launched. Click here for more information. These groups are affiliated to this original group and have the same ethos. They enable people who want to connect on a local, regional or national level. Having more non ridden equine groups does not diminish the original Non Ridden Equine Facebook Group. Many candles can be lit from one candle it doesn't fade the original candles light or brilliance. It brings more light into the dark. We cannot create or admin a local group for every region or country, however we are delighted to support people who wish to set one up for their area using our ethos. It would be wonderful to see a worldwide network of non ridden groups and associations. Only affiliated Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are promoted on the Non Ridden Equine Association UK website and on our Facebook groups.
Our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are set up for the non-ridden horse, pony, mule, donkey and people who choose not to ride. There are a lot of pressures that face the non-ridden equine. The non-ridden horse is often over looked and under-valued and treated in some cases as a second class citizen. Equines that cannot be ridden are often physically and or emotionally damaged. Many have suffered at the hand of man. The horse world can be a cruel place. There is also a lot of social pressure folk face who own non-ridden equines or choose not to ride.
The Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are set up to celebrate the many joys non-ridden equines can bring to us. It is a place people can exchange ideas and experiences of enjoyment of the non-ridden equine. Plus show off their beautiful equines. People who love horses and do not own one and riders are also welcome. As non ridden activities are wonderful for all equines. The Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are not anti riding. However we are here to promote non ridden. With this in mind, members of these groups must be supportive and be mindful.
Facebook and the internet is not always the most comfortable place to be different and to feel comfortable with sharing. This is why our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are all closed groups. The groups are set up for members who are supportive to each other. Therefore members to these groups must observe some rules.
We all have horses in our lives for very different and personal reasons. It doesn’t make one reason or approach to engaging with equines right and another wrong.
Yes you will see things posted in the Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups that you don’t agree with or dislike and it maybe not how you would do things. It is fine to agree to disagree. Be civil, be kind, and you are more likely to engage in a productive conversation. No getting into an argument. No being unpleasant, name calling or swearing.
Please remember we are all on a very personal journey of discovery and enlightenment.
Don’t like a post or a comment? Two legs or four, negative reinforcement is not the way forward. If you don’t like a post, and haven’t got anything nice or positive to say don’t comment, don't moan and complain or aggressively judge. Instead start a new post promoting what you love. Do something life enhancing for us. Share positive stories, useful information, resources and things that inspire you. We are all here to learn so be proactive by starting a new post to help us all learn rather than high-jacking another person’s post. You will then be providing people with opportunities to learn and develop. Positive is what this group is about.
Re-homing. Equines ideally would have a home for life, be loved, cherished and well cared for. However we do not live in an ideal world. Many equines have no loving caring responsible guardian. We have a terrible over breeding crisis, with many low value non ridden equines abused, neglected, abandoned or dumped near death or dead. Do not join our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups to try to offload an equine that is no longer of use to you, as your post will not be approved. Re-homing posts are not allowed as re-homing is not what our groups are about. However personal circumstances can lead to heartbreaking decisions to re-home. So we provide for FREE information and advice on Re-Homing. Adverts from welfare groups are allowed in our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups if they observe Facebook policy.
Please note we all have horses for personal reasons and the bottom line is do we love the horse more than what it can do for us.
No bashing what you don’t like. This includes: No posting of dreadful practices. There are plenty of Facebook groups who share the horrors, not in our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups. This rule is because many of our non-ridden equines are the end result of these dreadful practices. No ranting.
No putting people or horses down. When posting a comment to a post stop and think. Only post positive and constructive feedback in the comments. This includes be mindful not only what you say but how you say it. No grammatical shouting at folk: for example exclamation marks! and text in CAPITAL LETTERS are a couple of forms of shouting. IT'S LIKE BEING SHOUTED AT!!!! Use your words wisely. Find solutions with kindness and love for your fellow man.
Absolutely no arguments will be tolerated in any shape or form in our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups.
If you feel you are being treated badly by a fellow member in one of our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups please report to admin the post in question. We will take action. We have a zero policy to this behaviour and will remove trouble makers for the benefit of the group.
Negativity is not what our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are about. Be kind, empathetic and supportive, everyone is fighting some battle you know nothing about.
Everyone is trying their best and to better their best. And some people are facing truly heartbreaking decisions in regard to their equines. If you feel the need to bash a fellow member I politely ask you to leave our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups.
No personal messaging members to sell products or services.
If you wish to promote products or services suitable for non ridden equines this must only be done via a group post which will be assessed before approved to the group. Only businesses awarded Non Ridden Equine Friendly Status can post in our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups
Admin work hard for the non ridden agenda with plenty of work going on behind the scenes. We also strive to keep our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups a happy harmonious group, however please note none of us admin will act as a playground referee to squabbling and pettiness. Therefore the admin team reserve the right to remove anyone who is not in spirit of the groups.
Please limit posts to 2 or 3 a day.
Most of all our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are set up to enjoy being with like minded folk. So be nice, be supportive and encouraging. Our Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups are about kindness and friendship. Collectively we can change our lives and the lives of equines if we place being kind to each other over being right. By standing together there is enormous scope for us to influence change.
