Non Ridden Equine Facebook Groups
The Non Ridden Equine Facebook group was launched on 4th May 2017 by Vicki and Steve Yates. They launched the group as they have a non ridden equine Kez, an Irish cob. Kez is the inspiration for starting this journey. What a journey it is. About 1,000 people per month join the Facebook group - The Non Ridden Equine - This group is the original group, the pioneer cutting a path out. This group has become an international group with members from all over the globe who are passionate about non ridden equines. It is a platform to share stories and to offer support to others. From this group is was clear way more than clicking like with like-minded people must be done for non ridden equines and people who choose not to ride. So as a direct result of the membership of the Facebook group the not for profit Non Ridden Equine Association UK was launched on 1st August 2017. We haven't the skill set or funding to tackle a global non profit association or venture. Plus each country has cultural differences and different issues and challenges.
We consulted with our members and it is clear that people wanted to be able to connect at a more local level as well as internationally. Awarding funding bodies also require us to be able to consult with targeted user groups. Awarding funding bodies also require us to evidence the difference our work is making. So far it has been incredible with the feedback to the difference it has made to people's lives. If you want to give your feedback click here. We can also say we have started something global.
So with these two needs and with careful consideration we have now National and local / regional sister affiliated Non Ridden Equine Facebook groups have launched as a direct result of us raising awareness of the much needed work that must be done and I am sure more local / regional and national non ridden groups will be coming on line as time goes by.
Here are the details of the Non Ridden Equine Facebook groups that are linked to create a network of sharing good practice. We have a shared ethos, vision and commitment to the non ridden equine agenda. Each local or national group will explore issues and challenges that are pressing for that country or region. A worldwide network of people are coming together all for their shared passion of the non ridden equine. You can join as many of the Facebook groups as you like.

Non Affiliated Groups
Anyone in the world can set up a non ridden equine / horse / pony / mule / donkey Facebook group. The people launching these groups may or may not have the skills, expertise or links to professionals in non ridden matters to develop and run their group professionally. They may or may not have knowledge of the equine industry and the non ridden issues and challenges. We have no way of applying any quality control over any new Facebook groups that set up. As it is free choice if the people who launch these groups want to affiliate and link to the original non ridden equine group. We have without doubt demonstrated there is popular need for non ridden groups. Sadly some groups will launch only to piggy back off our hard work, copy what we have done to take the credit for their own personal gain. Any group that is not affiliated and copies our work may have completely different agendas to ours and not be run to our standards. Therefore we cannot approve these groups.
Anyone can set up a not for profit non ridden venture too. Although this does take considerable commitment to the cause, and funding.
The work of the original Facebook Non Ridden Equine group and the Non Ridden Equine Association UK is very inspirational so we expect other Facebook groups to launch and other Non Ridden Equine Associations to launch. We hope they see the benefit of linking up and joining us. We are more than happy to support anyone who wants to set up a group or an association. However not everyone who sets up a group will want to be linked. Therefore we cannot signpost with confidence to these groups as they may not have the same ethos or vision.
Here are the details of non affiliated groups we are aware of but cannot approve.
Canada and USA Non Ridden Equine. Created by Kathy Kenny-Slaven on 1st January 2018. Kathy was a member of The Non Ridden Equine original Facebook group. So she was inspired by our original group to launch her own. It is Kathy's choice not to affiliate or link her group. This group copied my text for the information about the group without my consent and action was taken due to infringement of my intellectual property and copyright. (It has now been removed) Facebook have been swift and prompt in regard to this matter.
Vicki Jayne Yates has worked extremely hard and unpaid to launch the non ridden agenda to the world. This includes the launch of the original Non Ridden Equine Facebook group and our affiliated Facebook groups and The Non Ridden Equine Association UK. She is personally funding the Non Ridden Equine Association UK. I have opened this journey up to anyone who wants to join us. So now we are a collective of thousands of passionate voices, professionals to novices from around the globe. All the work to date by Vicki Jayne Yates and the Non Ridden Equine Association UK is copyrighted. I will take action against any form of plagiarism of my intellectual property. Plagiarism is taking someone else’s work, ideas, text, images and passing them off as their own. At best it may be done through ignorance, at worst deliberately however it is intellectual property theft and copyright infringement.
